Retirement Spotlight: Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas 💙💛
After 32 years in education—10 of those at Scott City—Mrs. Thomas is retiring from the classroom.
Throughout her career, she’s taught Pre-K through 12th grade, spending 23 years at the elementary level and 9 years at the high school. When asked whether she’s an elementary or high school teacher, her answer has always been both—and her impact across all grade levels proves it.
From high school art shows, AP Art success, and even painting a train (with permission!) to elementary art showcases, archaeology projects, and nationally recognized work, Mrs. Thomas created meaningful, hands-on experiences for her students at every level.
In 2011, she was honored as Art Educator of the Year, receiving recognition at both the state and national level—just one reflection of the passion and dedication she brought to her classroom each day.
Mrs. Thomas credits her supportive family—her husband Craig, children Heather and Robert, grandchildren Michael and Killian, and even her dog Einstein—as her foundation throughout her career.
Thank you, Mrs. Thomas, for 10 incredible years at Scott City Schools and for inspiring creativity in generations of students. 💙💛 #SCWeR1
