Parents at SCE we are seeing an uptick in conversations, games, and toys surrounding Huggy Wuggy. This message is to make you aware of Huggy Wuggy and the disturbing trend that many of our children are being exposed to on social media.
Huggy Wuggy: What Parents Need to Know About This Disturbing Social Media Trend.
What is Huggy Wuggy?
The character is an evil villain in a 2021 horror PC game called Poppy Playtime. It's a survival horror game set in an abandoned toy factory and the Huggy Wuggy character tries to hunt down the players while singing them creepy songs.
The concerning videos are fan-made, produced by someone who admires a particular TV show, film, or videogame. The following is a list of some of the YouTube Channels that have made the concerning videos:
1. GameToons
2. SamToons
3. GH’S
4. Monster School Story
5. Game My
6. Secret4Studio
7. Hornstromp 3D
8. Siren Studio
9. Bunny Games
10. Slime Channel
The videos include, but are not limited to offensive language, cartoon representations of alcohol use, blood, stabbings, decapitations, attempted murder, murder, and the bloody aftermath of a car crash. In one of the videos a toy cartoon character tells a cartoon person, “My hugs don’t hurt one bit, you’ll be dead before the pain comes!” The character then hugs and squeezes the person until they turn blue and passes out.
Where are kids finding Huggy Wuggy?
Parents.com says kids may have access to the game or may be able to watch the videos on YouTube or TikTok. Some parental controls may have a hard time filtering the name because it sounds so cute, they say. Some are saying the game is upsetting for young children and can scare and upset them -- especially if they are not prepared for the horror-filled videos found online. Parents need to know what their children are watching and be available to help them answer questions about potential harmful trends online.

What an amazing day. Mr. Chris Snider came and spoke to our elementary students about organ donation. He talked to us about his son Dominic Hooper, who saved 5 lives through organ donation. Our younger students gained a deeper understanding of what it means when we say "Do It For Dom". They asked some great questions, but most importantly they learned about a hero. April is Donate Life month - talk to your family and register to be an organ donor.
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 19 and join us at Scott City High School for our baseball and softball Green Out Games. #DoItForDom #WeAreSCE
