SCOTT CITY SENIORS ARE EXCEPTIONAL! Each high school senior was recently evaluated by their high school teachers, coaches, etc. on various soft skills (also known as employability skills). If a student received an EXCEPTIONAL rating in either DEPENDABILITY, LEADERSHIP, INITIATIVE, GOOD ATTITUDE, RESPECT, and/or TEAM PLAYER, they received a certificate and prize! JAG students made gingerbread houses as a community service project. Students voted on the best house by putting change in containers. Logan Merrick and Lane Miller had the winning house. JAG president Kobe Watson presented Mrs Tharp and Toy Box with over 75.00 dollars in change.

SEMO and SC will partner once again for Scott City Day at SEMO Basketball! You'll receive a Scott City Rams themed SEMO hat with the advanced purchase of a theme ticket. Lance Amick has been chosen as the next Superintendent for the Scott City R-1 School District by the district's Board of Education on December 11th, 2023. He will begin his duties on July 1st, 2024. Amick has worked in education for 21 years, all at Scott City Schools. He has been a teacher and coach at SCR1 in a number of high school varsity sports. He has been the high school principal at SCR1 for 6 years. He served as the president of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MOASSP) for the 2022-2023 school year and was named Principal of the Year by MOASSP in the Southeast Missouri Region for 2023. Amick will take over duties from Mr. Umfleet, who held the position for the last 5 years (2019-2024). Umfleet was an administrator at SCR1 for 19 years and is set to retire at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

She is learning a new skill, puppeteering, in preparation for the next children's show "Parker and a Christmas Carol". A dedicated actor, someone who has great ideas, and a student who isn't afraid to ask questions, Jordan is a student who is ready to show off her skills to the community.
