Allison, a senior, stated, "Today l learned the steps to giving an IV. First you wash your hands. Then introduce yourself to the patient while putting on your gloves. You explain to them why the doctor ordered the IV. You clean the area before you start, put on the tourniquet, insert the needle in the vein and then remove the needle /J-loop. Finally you tape it down to the skin!"

Scott City FBLA Donates to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
The Scott City Future Business Leaders of America sold t-shirts and cookies during Open House to raise money for several non-profit organizations. A $50 donation will be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Collin Braun, a 2022 Scott City High School graduate. Collin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in October of 2018. This is a cancer that starts in the bones and affected Collin’s lower femur. He began chemotherapy at St. Jude’s and in January of 2019, Collin had surgery that removed the tumor that had spread from the lower femur into the knee and surrounding muscles, tendons and skin. Collin has made a huge recovery thanks to St. Jude’s! Pictured are Collin and Scott City FBLA Co-President William. Thanks to everyone who supported this fundraiser and remind everyone that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!
