From parents and students coordinating dress up days to the teachers and volunteers making everything run smoothly. Thank you to everyone that that came and read to our classes today. We had 187 guest readers today!!!! The kids also LOVED our Masked Readers that we had every morning. Thank you to Ms. Scherer (teacher), Mrs. Halbert (nurse), Mr. Cossey (tech. director), Mr. Umfleet (supt.), and Mrs. Ort (MS principal) for being a Masked Reader. Congratulations to Gavin Venable on signing with Southern Illinois University's Army ROTC scholarship program. Army ROTC Scholarships are available to those students that have performed at a high level and have demonstrated leadership potential. Either as a high school student, or as an enrolled Cadet. March 4-8 is Read Across America Week and we have a lot of fun activities planned at SCE. Please see the link for our daily dress up themes. We will also be having a Masked Reader EVERY morning at 7:30 in the elementary gym. Please make sure that your child is in the gym at 7:30 every morning next week if they want to hear our Masked Reader read a story. They will then get to try to guess who the Masked Reader is!!! I promise you they won't want to miss this! ***Also, on Friday, March 8 we will be hosting guest readers. If you are interested in being a guest reader, please contact your child's teacher or call the elementary office for available times.
