Just a reminder this week is Grandparents Week. Grandparents can sign in at the entrance by the elem. playground. Doors will open at 7:45 and you will be allowed to wait in the elem cafeteria. We will be celebrating our grandparents all week from 8-9am. Today is for Prek & Kindergarten. Tues. is for 1st grade. Wed. is for 2nd grade. Thurs. is for 3rd grade and Friday is for 4th grade.

Our Faculty & Staff Spotlight for September is Laura Sterling! Ms. Sterling is a 2nd grade teacher at SCE. Through her years she has also taught 1st grade and Title I Math. She is extremely dedicated to the profession and is always researching ways to increase student learning. Ms. Sterling is a team player and is always willing to think outside of the box. She has excellent classroom management and is data driven. This fearless leader gives 100% every day and we are blessed to have her! Ms. Sterling has always loved working with kids and knew that she was meant to be a teacher. In 2015 Ms. Sterling moved from Malden to Scott City to complete her degree in elementary education. Her family quickly fell in love with Scott City and this has been her home ever since. She said that making this move and going back to school was one of the best decisions she has ever made. Ms. Sterling has two children. Her son is a junior at SEMO and her daughter is a senior at Scott City HS. Ms. Sterling is in her 7th year at SCE and has loved being part of such an amazing group of educators. She said that the best part of teaching is being a part of a child’s self discovery and growing confidence they didn’t have before. “Working with students to push through those learning barriers and watching them grow is why I love doing what I do. I get to work with such amazing people who encourage and inspire me every day. It doesn’t get much better than that.” Thank you for all you do for our students and school! We love having you on our team! 🐏🏫 #SCWeR1
