Meet Matt Underwood, Vice President of the Scott City School Board and a dedicated board member for nearly nine years. Matt first ran for the board to become more involved in the community he’s always called home and to support the district where his two children attend school.
A Scott City High School Class of 2000 graduate, Matt has lifelong roots in our district. Serving on the school board is his way of giving back to the community that has given so much to him and his family. He believes what truly sets our district apart is the strong sense of community, our dedicated staff, and the unwavering support shown to students both inside and outside the classroom.
One of Matt’s proudest accomplishments has been helping pass a bond that funded major improvements across the district—including upgrades to the football, baseball, and softball fields, the elementary cafeteria/gym, restrooms, and more. Looking ahead, he’s excited to continue building on these strengths to ensure future generations have access to a quality education and the opportunities they deserve.
When it comes to school traditions, Matt’s favorite is Friday Night Lights—a reflection of our top-tier football program and the incredible environment it creates for students and the community. His advice to students is simple but impactful: take advantage of every opportunity, get involved, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
Matt believes deeply in public education and the role it plays in giving every child—no matter their background—the chance to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Meet Tim Lowery, our School Board President, currently serving in his 7th year on the board. Tim felt a calling to get involved in his community—especially knowing the decisions made would directly impact his son, now a junior, and countless other students in our halls.
Tim takes great pride in our school district and values being part of a board that keeps the focus where it belongs: on kids. From passing the bond and seeing meaningful upgrades across the district to navigating tough, behind-the-scenes decisions, he’s witnessed the heart and dedication it takes to always do what’s best for students.
What stands out most to Tim is the commitment of our entire team—from teachers and administrators to tech and maintenance staff—who are constantly working to improve the student experience. And while he loves the passion behind all school events, he admits he’s a sports guy at heart, especially when the gyms and fields are filled with community members cheering on our teams 🏀⚽️⚾️
A proud transplant to Scott City, Tim says he was welcomed with open arms and will forever be a Proud Ram. His message is simple and powerful: educating the future members of our communities is a responsibility we cannot afford to fail. It starts in our classrooms and halls every single day.

While there wasn’t a sweepstakes award at this tournament (we’re pretty sure we would’ve taken it again 😉), the talent and hard work were still on full display.
