Yesterday Scott City hosted 12 bands in the Missouri Small School Band Directors Association State Music Festival. Congratulations to the high school band for earning an "Outstanding" rating at the festival!
Tomorrow, members of the band perform at the district solo and small ensemble festival at Jackson HS.


Scott City JAG students welcomed Tony Capobianco. He is the Southeast Missourian sport editor. He also writes for Semoball.

The Scott City R-1 School District is seeking a Secondary Special Education Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will have a valid Missouri Special Education teaching certificate, effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively as an IEP team member. The candidate needs to possess knowledge, experience and expertise in instruction of students with disabilities, as well as, demonstrate competency and compliance in the special education process. Experience is preferred but not required teaching special education students in small group settings including the regular education classroom. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge and/or experience implementing behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students. Our bands have had a busy week. On Saturday, the jazz band performed at the Jackson Jazz Festival, and on Monday 5 of our students were invited to perform with the SEMO Honor Band. Congratulations to seniors Heather Phillips, Allysa Pruitt, and Brian Brown, and Camden Chamberlain and Nathan Palmer for being selected.
Today SC hosts the Missouri Small School Band Director Association concert band festival. The performances are open to the public. The SC high school concert band starts the day with their performance at 8:30.

Winning Back to Back! The Speech and Debate team took home 4 more awards for their performances at these past two tournaments! Adam Haynes Ryan won 2nd in Prose and Makayla Spies won 3rd in Poetry at Bernie, also Makayla won 3rd in Poetry and Ann Baker won 3rd in Prose at Clearwater. This team will be heading to districts on March 17th and 18th at Ste. Genevieve. Please wish them to "break a leg" at their performances and continue to show that Scott City Pride! Team, the season draws to a close, but your coaches are so proud of you! Keep it up!

Four Scott City Seniors, Landon Carman, Lane Johnston, Everett Roark, and Bret Walton, attended Camp Enterprise at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center on Friday, February 24, 2023. This was a seminar that allowed students to explore the world of business through activities and enterprise simulations. Nearly 60 students from surrounding schools met with area business leaders to explore various business careers.




Several Scott City students joined 30 other schools for a virtual presentation of Mingo Job Corp. Students saw free programs that are offered in Welding, Painting, Heavy Equipment, Fire, Brick and Mason, Carpentry, Office Administration, and Driver's Education. Housing, food, uniforms, and tools are also provided for male and female students between 16-24 years old. Several programs work with Three Rivers College for college credit. Yesterday we were fortunate to celebrate the completion of our bond issue construction projects with a ribbon cutting. We greatly appreciate our community for overwhelming approving this project! We are so thankful for our Board, Chamber of Commerce, faculty and staff, students and community members that were able to come out and celebrate with us yesterday! #SCPride

Christopher Chase Venable was awarded one of the two National Wild Turkey Federation Scholarships at their annual banquet held Saturday, February 11, 2023. The Bootheel Boss Gobblers Chapter (Cape Girardeau), formed in 1985, and was recognized at the NWTF National Convention last year as one of the top three chapters in the country. Thank you NWTF and congratulations Chase on your award!




The Army National Guard reviewed the ASVAB with our sophomores and juniors today. Career exploration and interests were investigated.
