Yesterday Scott City hosted 12 bands in the Missouri Small School Band Directors Association State Music Festival. Congratulations to the high school band for earning an "Outstanding" rating at the festival!
Tomorrow, members of the band perform at the district solo and small ensemble festival at Jackson HS.


Scott City JAG students welcomed Tony Capobianco. He is the Southeast Missourian sport editor. He also writes for Semoball.

The Scott City R-1 School District is seeking a Secondary Special Education Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will have a valid Missouri Special Education teaching certificate, effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively as an IEP team member. The candidate needs to possess knowledge, experience and expertise in instruction of students with disabilities, as well as, demonstrate competency and compliance in the special education process. Experience is preferred but not required teaching special education students in small group settings including the regular education classroom. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge and/or experience implementing behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience based upon the district’s salary schedule. Applications are available on the school website at www.scr1.org. Our bands have had a busy week. On Saturday, the jazz band performed at the Jackson Jazz Festival, and on Monday 5 of our students were invited to perform with the SEMO Honor Band. Congratulations to seniors Heather Phillips, Allysa Pruitt, and Brian Brown, and Camden Chamberlain and Nathan Palmer for being selected.
Today SC hosts the Missouri Small School Band Director Association concert band festival. The performances are open to the public. The SC high school concert band starts the day with their performance at 8:30.

Winning Back to Back! The Speech and Debate team took home 4 more awards for their performances at these past two tournaments! Adam Haynes Ryan won 2nd in Prose and Makayla Spies won 3rd in Poetry at Bernie, also Makayla won 3rd in Poetry and Ann Baker won 3rd in Prose at Clearwater. This team will be heading to districts on March 17th and 18th at Ste. Genevieve. Please wish them to "break a leg" at their performances and continue to show that Scott City Pride! Team, the season draws to a close, but your coaches are so proud of you! Keep it up!
