Join us in recognizing Cheryl Anne Scherer and Scott County Missing Persons Week.
On the 45th anniversary of Cheryl's disappearance, the Scott County Missouri Commissioners declared the week of April 17th each year as a time to honor those who are missing and to raise awareness. This year, we invite our community to unite in support by wearing yellow on Wednesday, April 16th. Let’s help bring attention to the ongoing efforts to locate missing persons.
We are inspired by the incredible work of the Forensic Anthropology Cold Case Team, led by Dr. Jennifer Bengtson. This group of dedicated SEMO students has helped identify eight missing individuals, bringing closure to families who have been waiting for answers for decades.

🎯 Wrapping up the year with some hands-on fun! Physics class is diving into archery this week — aiming for knowledge and hitting bullseyes! #SCWeR1
🌱 Our Pre-K class has been busy exploring the magic of plants! They learned how seeds grow, got up close with dandelions, and created some beautiful nature-inspired art. 💛
Using celery and colored water, they watched how water travels up the stem to the leaves—science in action! 🌈🌿
Everyone planted grass and discovered how light affects growth. Mrs. Amick’s grass, grown in darkness, turned out white. Mrs. Whitworth’s, under artificial light, grew the tallest. The kids' grass? Soaked in sunshine and thriving! ☀️🌱
They also explored the parts of a plant we eat:
🥕 Root = Carrot
🌿 Stem = Celery
🥬 Leaf = Lettuce
🥦 Flower = Broccoli
🍓 Fruit = Strawberry
🌽 Seeds = Corn
