Last Friday, the 5th graders attended Eagle Days at Mingo Wildlife Refuge. They learned how the refuge helps eagles and other raptors. They also got to see a bald eagle, a harpy eagle, and a golden eagle up close! They explored parts of the refuge, watching the nests of bald eagles and exploring other wildlife, as well as testing their strength against an eagle. Thank you, Missouri Department of Conservation and Mingo Wildlife Refuge, for a great day!




Alexandria Cato has always lived by the motto "Honor, Courage, Commitment". On Thursday, January 18th, 2024 (Her 17th birthday), she signed up to continue living this motto. Alexandria chose the United States Navy as the next chapter in her life. Serving God and her country is an honored blessing that she looks forward to. The Scott City Future Business Leaders of America attended the District 15 Conference at SEMO on February 1, 2024. Congratulations to those who qualified for the 2024 Missouri State Leadership Conference in April: Ian Weber, 1st Place in Computer Problem Solving and 1st Place in Networking Infrastructures; Rylan Froggatt, 1st Place in Intro to Information Technology; Ian Weber, 2nd place in Cybersecurity; Rylan Froggatt, Kobe Watson, and Rustyn Underwood, 2nd Place in Sports and Entertainment Management Team; and William Schumer, 4th Place in Accounting.
Other winners were Eli Aycock, 3rd Place in Intro to Public Speaking; William Schumer, 5th Place in Spreadsheet Applications; Rustyn Underwood, 6th Place in Intro to Business Presentation; Rylan Froggatt, 7th Place in Computer Problem Solving; Aleah Shackles, 8th Place in Healthcare Administration; Lilyan Landis, 8th Place in Business Calculations; Evan Simmons, 9th Place in Advertising, and Kobe Watson, 10th Place in Advertising.
Scott City also earned 3rd place in the Escape Room contest against 14 other schools!

Scott City High School students are again displaying our Huichol Indian inspired yarn paintings. Everyone is invited to come to downtown Cape this Friday (2/2/23) and experience the “First Friday” activities. Scott City FCCLA students competed at the Regional Level for STAR Events. Ann Baker received top gold in Fashion Design Level 2 and Rylan Froggatt and Gabbie Streiler competed in Profession Presentation Level 3. All 3 students are advancing to the state level!!!
Ann also was elected FCCLA Region 6 President and Rylan was elected Regional Historian the 2024-2025 school year !!!

We are having a St. Jude Benefit at our boys basketball game on Saturday 2/10 vs. Puxico. All of the money we raise will go directly to the families of St. Jude Children's Hospital. We will have events and food on the day of the game. We are also selling shirts to help raise money. Short sleeve shirts are $15 and long sleeves are $20. 5th graders have been learning about animal organ systems. Today, they dissected owl pellets, exploring the digestive system of an owl!



6th graders have been learning about the parts of a flower. Today, they dissected a specific type of flower, identifying the different parts and then making their own real diagram. Thank you, Mason Grace Florist, for the flowers!


Last night our long awaited Basketball Homecoming Queen and her court were announced. Senior Emilie Rhyne was crowned Homecoming Queen. Congratulations Emilie! The Homecoming court included flower girl Tessa Enderle, crown bearer Maddox Penrod (not pictured), Freshman Olivia Oakley, Sophomore Alyvia Karrenbrock, Junior Shaylea Howard, Seniors Makenzie Lawless and Gracie Karrenbrock. Ms. Rhyne was crowned by the retiring queen Avarie O'Brien, Class of 2023. Also, an additional honor was bestowed at last night's game to senior Lawson Graff as the Cape Parks and Rec official of the year. The Scott City Middle School hosted a Career Fair on January 19, 2024 with the help of Future Business Leaders of America. Community and business leaders spoke to 7th and 8th grade students about their careers. Students first took the Missouri Connections Career Interest Inventory. Based on those results, students were scheduled into presentations based on their top four career interests.
