Alexys Littlepage, Southeast Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences student, spoke to Mrs. Weber’s Anatomy students today. She discussed various healthcare careers and education needed to pursue each of them. The former alumni demonstrated how a catheter, blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, and pen light work.

Kindergarten and 2nd Grade had a lot of fun visiting STEM Lab this week. The kids coded a parade route with Ozobots from the Edvolution Center and coding mice. They even built floats for a parade!

JAG essay winner Harley Glueck was invited to the Governor's mansion for a luncheon on Tuesday Nov.2
While there she was given the privilege of seeing State Representative Jamie Burger's office along with Missouri Senator Holly Rehder's office. The first lady Tresa Parsons also stopped by to pose for a picture.

The National Award Program Releases the Names of 2022 School Winners
WHAT: Today, The Heisman Trophy Trust announced the 2022 School Winners for the Heisman High School Scholarship.
From an applicant pool of thousands of high school scholar-athletes graduating with the class of 2023, more than 5,700 have been named School Winners in the Heisman High School Scholarship competition awarded by The Heisman Trophy Trust.
School Winners will continue on for the chance to become State Winners, National Finalists or National Winners. State Winners receive a $1,000 college scholarship, National Finalists receive a $2,000 college scholarship and the male and female National Winners will each receive a $10,000 college scholarship.

Last night, over 300 students from Southeast Missouri auditioned for spots in the All-District Ensembles. Scott City had 8 students put in numerous hours to prepare for these auditions: Heather Phillips, Ian Weber, Hannah Heise, Jordan Streiler, Hunter Spraggs, Maylene Cherry, Sophie Cochran, and Alexia Schumaker. A special congratulations to the four chosen for the band. Heather Phillips earned 1st Chair Clarinet, Ian Weber - 2nd chair jazz alto saxophone, Sophie Cochran - 7th chair flute, and Alexia Schumaker - 14th chair clarinet! Heather, Sophie, and Alexia will be performing a special concert with the All District Band at Cape Central High School on Nov. 19th at 7pm. Ian will perform with the district jazz band in Feb.

Senior College and Career Activities
Students attended the Ranken Technical College Manufacturing Day at Perryville this week. They listened to speakers from Robinson Construction, toured TG Missouri (who creates airbags, steering wheels, etc. for the Toyota Company), and toured the Ranken Technical College Welding, Diesel Tech, IT, and the IET classrooms.
The SEMO College Fair was on Monday, October 17th where twenty seven seniors visited 65 colleges.
Thank you to Scott City Animal Clinic for hosting Hannah for a career shadow day on October 19, 2022. She got to witness first-hand a dog neutering and ACL surgery. This helped Hannah decide that she definitely wants to be a vet!
