The 5th graders have been learning about adaptations in science. They recently completed a lab that focused on a human adaptation, the opposable thumb. The students were given different tasks and had to complete them without using their thumbs. The Lego tower was the most entertaining!!

We sincerely thank our community and students for the awesome turnout today at our Veterans Day Assembly. It is so great to be back together again honoring those who have served. We want to thank our Middle School student council, faculty, staff, custodians and administration for all their hard work. We also want to thank our band and honor choir for the awesome performances! Our guest speaker, Mr. Toby Jordan, expressed his appreciation for the great school, students and community we have here in Scott City. Thank you for coming and we thank our Veterans for their service to our country! #SCPride

Yesterday we had our 1st annual “Sweat for a Vet” push-up challenge. The challenge required the students (and Mrs. Perkins) to do as many push-ups as they could within 5 minutes. Through sponsorships, each push-up raised money that will be used to create holiday care packages that will be gifted to local members of our United States Armed Forces and their families. We were honored to have active duty members of our United States Army present to assist with tallying the push-ups. Overall a combined 1,211 push-ups were completed within 55 minutes, and so far $1,254.50 has been raised.
At Scott City School we strive to show our gratitude, support, and respect for members of our Armed Forces and their families. We are extremely proud of these students (and Mrs. Perkins) for accepting this challenge and honoring our brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces.

Don't forget tomorrow is our Veterans Day assembly brought to you by the SCR1 Middle School Student Council. We're so glad to be able to get together again on this important day. The last time we were able to host this event was 2019! Come out and help us let our Veterans know how much we appreciate their service. Our Veterans and the public are invited to attend! #SCPride

21 students attended Preview Day at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff. The students toured the college, heard presentations about options at TRCC, were provided lunch and goodies to take home. Three Rivers will also be visiting Scott City to speak with interested students in the near future. We appreciate the time they invest in our students.

Thank you to everyone who helped us to exceed our goal at the Fall National Honor Society Blood Drive. The number of units we collect increases the Red Cross Scholarship awarded to our NHS senior members.
