Scott City FBLA participated in the District 15 Conference held on February 7, 2023 at Southeast Missouri State University. Students who qualify to compete at the State Conference in April are Olivia Ponder: 1st Place in Job Interview and 2nd Place in Healthcare Administration; Ian Weber: 1st Place in Cybersecurity, 2nd Place in Networking Infrastructures, and 3rd place in Computer Problem Solving; Heather Phillips: 3rd Place in Healthcare Administration; and Carly Blaylock: 4th Place in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedures. Also placing were Eli Aycock: 5th Place in Introduction to Public Speaking, William Schumer: 7th Place in Accounting and 9th Place in Computer Applications; and Heather Phillips: 7th place in Political Science. William, Rustyn, and Ian also won prizes from the Jeopardy Game Show. Congratulations to all and good luck in April!

Congratulations to the following students who have their artwork on display for the 23rd Annual Children's Art Festival. Their work will be on display at the Art Council Gallery until Saturday, February 25. A special thank you to our art teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, for being a fearless leader and inspiring artistic expression among our youth. Mrs. Thomas is a passionate artist and leads by example. She is active in the art community and we are blessed to have her. The 5th Grade went to Mingo National Wildlife Refuge today for Eagle Days! They learned many things about eagles and also got to participate in an Eagle Presentation. They were able to see 3 different eagles, including a Bald Eagle! It was a great day!

The Scott City High School art department has again been awarded the honor of displaying student artwork at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri in downtown Cape Girardeau. We are again displaying the Houichol Indian inspired yarn paintings. “This was a huge success last year and I am honored to get the chance to display my student’s artwork again this year”, said Mr. Conaway, high school art teacher. Congratulations to the following students having artwork on display at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. Kayden Gray, Allison Flanner, Sarah Lang, Teagen Beussink, Alli Rendleman, Blake Crump, Graycie Conklin, Carly Blaylock, Halle Comer, Paris Altorfer, Ally Cato, Hunter Mason, Colin Blaylock, Julie Weber, Jackson Gloth, Olivia Graff, Gracie Karrenbrock, Noah Slayden, and Emma Moore. The artwork is located in the Micro Galleries and tonight is the “First Friday opening” of the art show.
